Cascades Conditions Report 5/24/2025
We’re off to a strong start this spring in the Cascades!
Our last two trips on the Muir Route of Mount Rainier have reached the summit, with teams reporting very favorable conditions on the upper mountain. Snow coverage remains excellent, with firm travel conditions during the early morning hours. Weather windows have been stable, making for smooth summit bids.
Over on Mount Baker, recent teams have summited both the Coleman-Deming and Easton Routes, with solid boot packs established and good travel across the glacier. Crevasse coverage is still strong, but guides are keeping a close eye on changing features as temperatures rise.
At this time, guides are recommending double boots for both Rainier and Baker due to lingering cold and variable snowpack conditions.
We’ll continue to post regular updates as more trips return and early season conditions evolve. Stay tuned!
